My relationship with books began in a rather unusual way. I was non-verbal until around five or six and didn't learn to read until I was 11. Yet every Saturday, after a morning swimming with friends, I'd spend the afternoon in the library, happily exploring encyclopaedias through their pictures.
After leaving school, I discovered a genuine passion for reading, particularly non-fiction. Writing, however, had always come more naturally to me. I've spent much of my life journalling, recording experiences and taking notes on practically every interesting fact I've discovered.
During lockdown, while others were decorating their homes and transforming their gardens, I found myself writing books. Lots of them! Unfortunately, I developed a habit of almost finishing one before an exciting new idea tempted me to start another.
Aurilah Books was born from my determination to finally finish and publish those manuscripts, turning years of ideas, research and creativity into books others could enjoy.
My hope is that, as Aurilah Books grows, I'll also have the opportunity to help other aspiring authors bring their very first books into the world.
